Bandwidth and data-transfer are often confused, they both refer to the transfer of data in and out of your servers network card. "Data-Transfer" refers to the actual quantity of data transferred (for example, if a cdrom contains 700mb of files, and you upload 700 mb of it to your server, you data-transfer will be 700mb). Bandwidth refers to the speed of data being transferred. The speed of data transfered is monitored, at the end of each month and average is worked out. A good comparison would be with a car - a car travells 50 miles, 50 miles would be your "data-transfer", alternativly you could measure based upon the cars average speed, this would be your "bandwidth". Most of our dedicated servers are billed based upon data-transfered.
